The price is set when your patient places and pays for their order, not when the referral is issued. If they order on or after 1 September 2026, the new pricing applies.

This is the first price increase since Microba Microbiome Explorer launched. We reduced prices last year to make testing accessible to more people, following feedback from patients and practitioners, and the product has changed considerably since then.

Cost. Running a clinical-grade laboratory has become more expensive. Consumables, sequencing, logistics and the scientific work behind every result have all risen in cost since launch.

Continued investment. The test ordered today is not the test that launched, and the price reflects what has been added. In the past year we have introduced a validated marker detecting oral-origin species in the gut, redesigned the sampling kit with clearer instructions, extended sample collection days to include Sundays, improved sample preservation, added report sharing so results can support a patient's wider care team, and added flexible payment options including PayPal Pay in 4 and Practitioner Pays.

What is coming next. Over the next three to six months we will expand the Microba Healthy Cohort, introduce additional biomarkers, and release further features shaped by patient and practitioner feedback.

We would rather keep advancing the science behind the result than hold the price and let the test stand still.

Microbiome Explorer is one test with optional add-ons. Full microbiome mapping is included in every version.

No. Add-ons need to be selected when the order is placed. Once we've started processing the sample they can't be added, and a new sample would be needed.

No — only our predetermined marker sets are available. This is deliberate. Fixed, validated marker sets are what let us stand behind the accuracy and evidence grade of every result we release.

Yes. Practitioner Pays lets you cover the cost of a test rather than your patient paying at checkout. This option is available when actioning the referral.

The price shown is the full cost — GST and shipping included, with nothing further to pay later. Microba tests aren't covered by Medicare. Private health rebates are subject to individual providers.

If cost is a barrier, two of the three versions sit under AU$500 from September. PayPal Pay in 4 is available to patients at checkout.
