Being clear about the limits matters as much as the coverage. Microbiome Explorer sequences DNA, so it does not detect viruses that carry their genetic material as RNA. Fungi are detectable but rarely appear, because in most healthy people they sit below the detection threshold. Some organisms are shed intermittently, so a single sample may not capture them, and there are situations where a different, dedicated test is the more appropriate investigation. Most importantly, a gut microbiome test describes your gut community. It does not diagnose disease and does not replace medical assessment.
