What is changing in Microba Microbiome Explorer 3.0?

More accurate. Healthy reference ranges have been refined using a larger, stringently defined cohort.
Is this a new test?
It is a new version of the current test, not a new test. Microba Microbiome Explorer 3.0 uses the same sample, the same collection kit and the same laboratory process, with the same turnaround time. Essentials, Extended and Comprehensive are unchanged as products. What has changed is the report and the packaging. The report is easier to read, shows the detail behind every result, and reflects the latest microbiome science. The kit box looks different, but what is inside it and how you collect your sample have not changed.
Does Microba Microbiome Explorer 3.0 cost more?
No. Microba Microbiome Explorer 3.0 is included at no extra cost. There is no upgrade fee and nothing to buy. Australian pricing for the Microbiome Explorer range changed on 1 September 2026, and that change applies to every Australian order from that date, whichever version of the report you receive. United Kingdom pricing is unchanged at this time.
Have my patient's results changed?
The way the patient's sample is measured is unchanged. What has been refined is the healthy reference range each result is compared against, which is now built on a larger, stringently defined cohort. A result can therefore sit in a different range than it would have under the previous version, from the same underlying measurement.
Can I still download a PDF of my report?
Yes. The PDF is still available, and the format will be very familiar.
Will my earlier reports still be available, and do they change?
Yes, they remain available, and no. Reports already issued keep displaying exactly as they were issued, in the interface they were issued in. New reports use Microba Microbiome Explorer 3.0. Both remain available in the portal.
When do I get it?
Microba Microbiome Explorer 3.0 is rolling out across September 2026. Release notifications appear in the practitioner portal.
Do I need to do anything?
No. There is nothing to install, activate or request. New reports arrive in the new format.

In the practitioner portal, the same place you review reports today.
