Yes. Many people successfully collect stool samples from a nappy.
Urine is typically absorbed into the nappy, while the stool remains on the surface.
Collect as much sample as possible from the first bowel movement of the day, taking care to collect from the stool on top of the nappy rather than the absorbent material underneath.
Testing in children
Microba™ Microbiome Explorer is designed for adults aged 18 years and over. The results are benchmarked against adult microbiome data.
The human microbiome changes significantly throughout infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and there is currently insufficient evidence to establish validated reference ranges for younger age groups.
Testing in children may still be considered where a healthcare practitioner has specific training and experience in interpreting paediatric microbiome data.
If you are considering testing a child, we recommend discussing this with a qualified healthcare practitioner experienced in paediatric microbiome care.
